This weekend program of Mahima Shani Dev Ki is emphasizing the need of our name to be Saatvik and its effects on our outlook to the world.

The Plot: In the story, the prince rebelled against his father in the coronation and banished his father in Aurangazeb style besides taking his own name as 'Dur-Vijay' in a gesture of temerity to terrorize the world. His sins blinded him to such an extent that he misused his mystic powers to challenge Indra and even to force the apsaras succumb to his lust. Shani intervened in his malicious efforts to penalize him in a very extreme way but narrowly allowing his life. His life was spared because his wife was very pious and god-fearing.

Shani did forgive him at the end because he 'realized' his folly and openly demanded heart's true apology from everyone that he inflicted hurt and on whom he had hurled abuse upon.

Tidbits of blushing with the ideologies of Bharatiyar

Bharatiyar is known for this radical renaissance thoughts from the perspectives of indian independence and liberating people afflicted with multiple forms of social stigma. Nevertheless two recent experiences with diversified set of people seems to share a sort of unique hatred to his section of his ideologies (or people mis-using it?)

The famous 'Agni Kunju' song. In my previous contractual assignment at VA ('the honeymoon assignment' :) ) there was a stupid desi outsourced partner involved in the delivery of the project. His representative and his team demonstrated heightened forms of damaged communicative abilities and broken English along with their sinister attitude.

And the way they tried to 'run behind the stakeholders like a dog behind a biscuit' and showing a 'pompous' show-offs by pretending to work on weekends made us compare as if his group was attempting to dance in the similar way as the one showed for this song in 'Bharati' movie.

The other thing is a positive gesture. Given that in our current team there is a good amount of Telegu fraternity and the amount of exposure to Telegu conversations in an alien land does make you feel little amused? Was this the reason for 'Bharathi' to call it as 'Sundara Telengu'?

It had been close to a month since we last met each other. 2012 had been starting up with little tight schedules on Todolist. Nashville and Texas share the similar expressions for me. Days in Texas had been always giving late night stays, offshore calls, production support keeping me real busy even through weekends. Nashville seems to be humbly emulating from it without any demur or delay.

Precisely speaking the honeymooning at VA is complete as a few posts in LD Desk and LD Tech would have already announced. I wouldn't call the waxing/waning period in other words for obvious and diplomatic reasons.

I have been trying to locate a good high resolution clear picture of Lordess Kamakshi at Mangadu for sometime close to an year now. Interestingly the website of Mangadu Kamakshi temple also seems to have only a low resolution picture of the Lordess.

My sincere thanks to Uma from Pammal who endeavored to help in getting a good high resolution image scanned and shared across.

And as a rarest breed of coincidence the scanned image came up on the Christmas Eve day making it a gift of the magi and a greatest divine blissful shower of blessings.

Perhaps, Mangadu Kamakshi had been penancing to Lord Shiva for several years before tying the knots at Kanchipuram and quite similarly it had been months of wait for Her before I could get behold of Her after a long gap.

Update on 27th December 2011: I also emailed to Sri Mangadu Kamakshi Devasthanams the new picture and with a request to them to see if they can publish the newer image on the website for the benefit of all devotees. Today they replied me with the calendar pic of 2012 where they have another divine picture of Sri Kamakshi. Please find the same below:

I have one habit or weakness which often puts 'bad people' in deep mess and trouble without even my and their knowledge and it helps bring them out to limelight as a service to the society. Perhaps it lights up the darkness created as my 'name' reflects its shine too. Of late, a few desi consulting organization has been duly reported to the labor department here and they are pursuing punitive actions on them besides serving as an eye-opener to others.

Many times I am not myself involved in the so-called unearthing report and/or the so-called detective attempts. The 'Lord' makes it happen through me. Here is my so-called 'habit'. When you give me some concrete information or thing for 'safe custody' and it is a ethical thing then rest assured I can take good care of the same till you or the bona fide owner claims it back. And the confidentiality is assured to two hundred percent. However when the so-called thing happens to be touching the lines of 'unethical gestures', for some reason I can not keep quiet or just stop by reporting to a few and can only spill it all over causing a massive destruction of the satanic evil force -- a kind of Lanka Dahan by Sri Hanuman.

Perhaps this is another subtle reason for my statutory name being tagged and firewalled by my sweet pen-name as described in 'The name Lavanya' at http://www.lavanyadeepak.tk/

What's in a name?
The 'rose' by any other name does smell sweet fragrant right? Perhaps this habit might also seeded from the name itself. The bad people interestingly share those information with me in many ways only to get burnt off.

The so-called casual introduction happens and after getting the first hand information about them, the bomb gets ignited to blast and annihilate them totally from the face of this beautiful earth.

The name might also be a manufacturing defect introduced by my parents in naming me so. The 'lamp' has a habit of 'attracting' insects and when the insect is within its dragnet it burns it off. Just felt like sharing this after a recent 'good community initiative' of burning a dirty devil insect. A few significant incident samples are:

A small-scale software organization in Chennai was 'annihilated' from its India operations (year-ending 2008) due to multiple issues like (1) Intellectual Property Violations (2) Misuse of Microsoft Credential like MCP certifications and MVP recognitions of the employees and (3) Untoward gesture of a few handful of middle-managers with female employees accompanied by the callous gesture of the top management. The corporate headquarters at MN can be investigated for the complete incident if needed.
A rogue near Tambaram was made to confess of his 'concubine relationships' hysterically from his own mouth in 2009. His malicious gestures were forced out of his own mouth.
A desi consulting organization based in VA has been unearthed about shady HR practices ranging upto duping of Social Security Administration. No further details available as of now.

Hence it is up to the other party to address me as 'Lavanya' or 'Deepak' or 'Lavanya Deepak'. But just by routing through 'L' can not save you from the wrath of 'D' which will prove more catastrophically disastrous in the long run.

We already covered about the crowning feedback in the birthday month. At the same I am also indebted to express my heart-felt thanks to Mark Zuckerburg for the amazing community that he has created bringing long-lost people back into the network. Whilst this is the plus-point of Facebook, it also does help you in identifying the rotten samples amongst the basket of apples so that you can remove them in the first instance.

At the same time I am delighted to have a blissful show of bountiful greetings on the birthday month which just poured like incessant rose petals right a week before the birthday itself.

Face is the index of the mind and a diligent careful use of Facebook in turn helps as a valuable fathom to assess the veracity of the entities in your network.

There was an interesting grammatical breakdown in my birthday post; in Microsoft Word perspective, a singular-plural disagreement. My heart-felt thanks to Lavanya for bringing the same to my kind attention.

You may be aware that I really feel happy when receiving comments-for-improvements which make me more dynamic rather than 'appreciations'. When you receive an appreciation the immediate gesture would be 'sit down and relax' which would slow down the progress. On the other hand a comment-for-improvement would make you tread ahead with more vigor and passion.

Frankly I logged into my blogger to share the song 'Nalam Vazha' which is by far the best melodious song as a 'birthday wish' as celebrated in the pages of 'LD'. I am glad that the birthday post itself had gathered a quick and good observation on the same.

Whilst that I was feeling glad from the early afternoon of November 9 till the Hawaiian evening of November 10 there was some feeling of something missed out around 1.30 PM Eastern on November 9 (with the daylight turned off). I am glad that this wish-comment filled out the gap. Trust things are good with you. Take care, sweetheart.

It is frustrating to see the situation in some of the developing and developed countries where the evil are prospering and the good people are suffering. The country which had been the benchmark for the world nations and considered super-power once is struggling to protect the lifestyle of its citizens. A host of unscrupulous immigrants are taking good advantage when the nation is suffering. The current government seems to be giving tall claims of various 'war-footing strategies' to improve the situation but the economy which has been ransacked and ravaged by the previous blood-hound leads seems to be in deep pit just like bhooma devi in the clutches of Hiranyakshan. Where is Bhoo Varahan and Lakshmi Narasimhan to resurrect the nation and the earth?

The city of sky scrapers witnesses a large scale of selling of properties for the sake of food. The city of cars is witnessing people preferring to transit because of the state of affairs. I fondly recall the 'Unnal Mudiyum Thambi' song here.

Possible issue with Cricket Wireless and Google Voice

The local conditional call forwarding trick that is used to divert cricket voicemail system to Google Voice does not seem to work. Whilst the 611 team asserts that the systems are in place to make it work, the actual level-playing field does not resemble so and elicits an error message as below:

"Raman Thediya Seethai" -- another wonderful creation from Cheran

Two weeks ago I had an opportunity to know about the film Raman Thediya Seethai through infact a really interesting source. I came to know of this title whilst preparing a script for a screenplay. Out of curiosity when I binged it, there turned out to be a movie on the same title.

A lot of things to learn from Cheran's creations -- his wonderful ways to capture real life situations as movies. Ranjitha's confession of her inability to judge him at first sight and expressing her love towards joining hands with him is really heart-moving one. At the same time, Gayatri's authoritative and tender moves in making a thief turn a good hard-worker and joining hands with him is another good shot.

The one thing I hated was Vidya's move for the way she ditched her family and everyone on the eve of her wedding and eloped with her paramour. Vidya -- the name is really bad for it shares another similar real life villain 'Pammal Vidya'. Perhaps V&R is a better person to eloborate on this topic. Check out here. Raman Thediya Seethai: A God's good gift of the weekend!

Payanam -- Destiny can change your destination

Last weekend I had an opportunity to watch Radha Mohan's creations 'Payanam' starring Prakashraj. It is a clear demonstration of political interferences in the high voltage drama involving a aircraft hijacked from a fictitious incident involving a flight from Chennai to New Delhi. The pilots resisted causing the engine to be damaged forcing it emergency land in Tirupathi instead of succumbing to the hijack diversion to an alien land of Rawalpindi in Pakistan.

A few points to observe from the movie are:

Bad behavior of media to sensationalize the topics just for boosting up their TRP ratings even involving an illegal impersonation attempts by reporters.
Unethical behavior of airport staff to smuggle explosives into the aircraft lured by the hijackers just for a pay of 2 lakhs. Is so many human lives worth just 2 lakhs?
The government just blindly releases the terrorists to 'satisfy' its vote bank and 'dumbass' security advisors without heeding to the words of 'National Security Guards'. In a way it makes us think whether they are hand-in-gloves with terrorists themselves? The catch quote of NSG to the security advisor -- "You are just old but not experienced" is a befitting reply that needs applause.
The terrorist lets the cat out of the bag -- "Women folk in India are better safe even in the haven/custody of terrorists rather than at courts and cop stations"

A few other personal observations regarding this airport route:

The fictious airplane shows up as 'Starjet' (perhaps closely modelled after Spicejet, which is this blogger's preferred airline for domestic travels). Interestingly the most latest journey I took in Spicejet was Chennai - New Delhi in September 2009.
Chennai Airport though claims all sorts of ISO certifications has a lot of things in negative including lack of good medical support for passengers and friendliness of this staff. This blogger personally had engineered an enquiry to be setup for lack of medical attention for a medical emergency way back in 2009-10 at this airport.

For some reason the whole of August to September had been a kind of battlefield in my mind, not sure whether the place I was in itself had a monumental place called 'National Battlefield Park'. It was almost like 'Dharmakshetre Kurukshetre'. And some of the rival camp's dirty secrets came to my knowledge which as per my policy I had to file to the appropriate authorities.

I have one weakness. If an information that is entrusted to me is an ethical one, I can take greatest care of its integrity and confidentiality. However if the information is unethical and/or illegal one, my mind automatically sniffs the same and ensures the same is blasted out to zillions of pieces and sometimes to the extent the rival party is crushed and crumbled beyond recoverable/recognizable pieces. Can't help. That is my 'manufacturing defect'.

Coming back to the mainstream discussion one of the main sankalpas was a furious 'Off from this hellish bully organization and environment' to 'Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam' as outlined here. And this happened right at the start of Pitru Paksh. And 9/23 was the last day of Summer, something similar to the 18th day of Mahabharat war when the project abnormally got closed because of mis-management and the team (operating from New Delhi, Ukraine and Virginia) had to be disbanded.

I am not intending to be sadistic but sometimes when your are in a stupid (proprietor-type) organization and you see that there is no safeguard for your self-esteem and/or self-respect, I think it is better to invoke the three phrase sentence 'OK_Thanks_Bye'. When our invocations are not that powerful then our mantras would ensure to get things done.

I have been receiving a lot of requests from people what are the various URLs that need to be blocked as part of parental control and what I recommend as a good parental control tool. I normally recommend OpenDNS has a good, free, reliable and cloud-based parental control tool. There is nothing to install and you can get started with a faster and safer internet in a few minutes.

Also OpenDNS groups the various URLs into different categories and it would be easier for you to block the URLs. My default ruleset of blocking is 'Custom' and the categories I normally block are hereunder:

I fondly hope that categorization should be fairly comprehensive parental control for securing an individual families' driving rooms. Opendns also facilitates individual URL unblocking/blocking as exemptions over and the categorization specified.

Gifting of a Lexar Jumpdrive by Bank of America

A while back there was a small Target gift card from Bank of America. Today I just thought would pay a visit to the Target mall here to see what is good. Had it been Amazon there would be a different strategy to avoid the shipping fees and get it. For Target to qualify for free shipping online, you need to book at least $50 worth of goods.

After a while the only item that I could afford with the gift card and was good was a Lexar Jump Drive. Don't worry. The illustration was lifted courtesy Bing Images. But the one I ordered was only a single piece of 4 GB storage.

Glad that Bank of America is able to reward the customers for the spends on the credit card but only thing is that they ought to restrict the amount of telemarketing calls on the pretext of those cranky surveys at odd hours despite being protected by Do Not Call Registry.

Rain lashes Northern Virginia

For the fourth day today it had been incessant non-stopping rains which rendered several routes impasse including a partial closure of i495 and 95 because of severe flooding at Woodbridge VA Holly Acres Mobile Park where people had been summoned an evacuation forthwith late night yesterday.

Occquan is almost resembling another big roaring ocean inland. The weather is still inclement. Schools which have recently opened for the year had opted to stay close due to the inclement weather conditions until further announcements from the weather department and improvements.

I had an interesting trip from Reston to Richmond yesterday. Almost had three to four detours because of almost flash flood situations en route before reaching the destination. Torrential Downpour is the one we would have heard and read of it. But this was the one which was felt yesterday.

Just two days back I was found cribbing around and lamenting 'Sick September'. So "what the hell is this guy around" would be the thought process nurturing in you. Yes. The dawn of September did bring a lot of sweet roses in more ways than one.

The weeks of September pronounce some kind of sluggishness not sure because of the spiritual Mahalaya Paksham or because of the transition of climate from hot summer to either fall/winter. At least for a few years now, September witnessed a sporadic violence on me.

Truant Week in East Coast

This week had been little truant across the East Coast all from North Carolina to New York. Whilst Tuesday we did experience a novel 5.9 Richter Scale tremors which are kind of new in this region, the coastline is preparing to greet yet another hostile entrant -- 'Hurricane Irene'.

At least to this point I have received three Weather Alert Text Messages indicating the imminent siege of Irene in the region. The most latest news might say that Irene has weakened a bit but the coastlines are exercising heightened vigil. Several low-lying areas in NC have also been called for mandatory evacuation.

Let us hope for the kindness and magnanimity of the nature.

A new rejuvenating theme ...

The DKV blog had been running in the classic theme which was launched by Google around 2006. This theme seriously lacked ability to add dynamic widgets and features on the fly in the blog. We were really hard-pressed in time to make necessary changes to the blog.

Had a little time today and scheduled by my Zoho Sheet, updated the them. Along with this change, I have also linked the 'Contact Us' page which is the same as in the parent website too. With this, the email addresses in the blog had to be bid adieu making this weblog Spam-free one. The widgets and the theme are also HTML5 compliant.

Please send in your concrete suggestions, healthy criticisms and feature requests. We may not able individually respond to the messages however rest assured they are duly investigated for feasibility of their fitment into the website/blog framework.

Radhamohan/Prakash' Payanam -- An eye-opener in more than one perspective ...

Today I had an opportunity to see Payanam, a thriller-drama epicentered on a hijack attempt on a domestic flight in India which is unfoiled by National Security Guards. A few points about Payanam are hereunder:

As a Radha Mohan's movie and with Prakashraj it does carry a very good entertainment. We can also see Brahmanandam's comedy in it, similar to Mozhi.
The precedence that our politicians give to their vote banks more than people's life, national image and integrity of the nation has been brought out quite clearly. I am really expecting the "2G" movie to hit screens which is being planned out currently.
The malicious journalists and their attempts to thwart the national security just to gain TRP ratings has been illustrated by a reporter who infringes airport security by trespassing as a 'fake cop'.

How did the so-called Central Industrial Security Force was callous is another story which has not been captured in the movie? Or where they also hand-in-gloves with the reporters?
On a personal experience I have seen the so-called ISO 9001-2000 certified Chennai Airport lacked basic civic sense amongst the staff leave alone lack of medical facilities causing this blogger acute discomfort in 2009-10. Now we come to realize from the research of Radha Mohan that they also do not have proper security infrastructure and the so-called security staff are just 'agents' of thugs. Let us see if Chennai Airport is going to improve something at least in the future.

We anyway know that Chennai and Mumbai international airports are famous for bag-lifting of electronic gadgets from international passengers' checked in baggages.
Politicians just offer to release the terrorist in a blatant attempt to 'satisfy' them without even consulting the armed forces.

A few good dialogues/quotes in this movie are:

NSG commander blames the so-called representatives from the Home Ministry that "You are just old but not experienced" and I think it aptly applies to the ministries and cabinet too.
The terrorist quotes to the passengers that in the women/child hostages were secure for the three days with them and challenges whether that would be the state of affairs in so-called police stations.
Hero-worshipping has been strongly condemned in the movie. A hero who has been glorified as Shining Star has been clarified that he is in afraid of cockroaches.

Payanam a very good movie in our travel towards the progress of the nation in identifying the bad elements particularly the people's representatives.

In the past two weeks I had an opportunity to watch two excellent masterpieces of Prakash Raj. A versatile actor tasted the roles of hero, comedian and villain.

Chellam! You truly rock in every role of yours!

Two of the soft touch films I loved are -- Mozhi and Abhiyum Naanum. His pranks with Brahmanandam in Mozhi are true ROTFL. Both the films are directed by Radha Mohan and co-starred by Prithviraj.

Abhiyum Naanum is a little emotional movie bringing out the affection between dad and his girl. Though he has affection his sense of upbringing her with a sense of responsibility is commendable. A sweet truly inspiring dialogues in Abhiyum Naanum are: "I know what I am doing" (from his little one right from her tender age of 15).

Abhiyum Naanum also discourages from using Sardarji jokes by bringing out some of the good quality of Sardarji. Also the way, Jogi steers his vehicle at high speed in hair pin bends of Ooty shows their confidence at wheel. Nay. It isn't exaggerated. You can see them ruling the roads when you travel near the Himalayan regions like Manali, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu Kashmir.

At least as a role model, I have set iPing to ring the phone around 2230 hours Eastern greeting 'Good Night. Shubh Ratri. Sleep Now. Bootstrap Spiritual Exercise'. The next wake up call would ring around 0630 hours Eastern Time 'Good Morning. Bootstrap Spiritual Exercise'. Without a reminder service we often tend to slippages of time and slogging.

But still a few people often surprise me a large:

Awake till 3 AM for no reasons.
I have seen a few boozing around on Friday nights till wee hours of Saturday and retiring to sleep at dawn.
I know of a MGP who claims to work till 2 AM and 3 AM but he snores away at his work desk like crazy.

I have been hearing from a few people that my ringing my phone just hits on the hard-wall of voice messaging without ever reaching me. Is it true?

Yes and No.

Yes: This is a spiritual exercise to calm down the mind from the various vivid patterns of disturbances. Thanks to Spiritual Science Research Foundation for the enlightening articles in this direction.

No: If the caller had been adhering to the Voice Protocol that we discussed at length a few days back it should have been able to reach without any demur or delay. But if it is going to a gossip call, the caller should accept a 403 response forthwith.

Speech is silver and silence is golden. When you experience the bliss of silence you get to hear the melody of the inner conscience.

The Wire (and Wirefree) Voice Culture

A whilst back we saw a few points about Elevators and good practices. In this one let us see a few points of the best ways to use the phone.

It is always a wiser practice to ensure that the call is answered in less than four rings. Eight rings constitute a full reach-attempt in a typical telephone system.
When you are in a meeting or at desk where the ringtone and/or mobile is going to be a source of distraction or disturbance it would be better to turn it off or make it in the 'Silent' mode. When I say 'silent' I am typically making a difference from even the 'Vibrate' mode. A lot of phones have a buggy implementation of Vibrate mode and they give a more disgusting fart-type sound.
When you promise a call-back it would be wiser to return the call as soon as possible. If not possible at least text them and inform the caller. If you are not willing to prolong the communication with the caller it would be wiser to give an upfront intimation to them rather than giving a false and/or a mis-guidance.
When you are confronted with a voice message system ensure that you leave a word. Empty voice messages are very much irritating to anyone. When you are confronted with a voice messaging systems it is more likely that you have been charged anyway for the call and hence it would be wiser at least to complete a half-duplex communication rather than waiting for an utopian full-duplex answer-back. It also helps the callee because when they check the voice message they are paying for the access of the same and it particularly drives them crazy to witness a few crop-dusted missed calls without comprehensible messages.
When you leave voice message please ensure you speak clearly and audibly. These days there are sophisticated voice message systems that can transcribe and text the callee to workaround costly and cumbersome voice mail access. Machine transcriptions can become hilarious if you are not clearer. It is also a voice exercise for you on how much speech clarity that you possess and you can use this exercise to improve yourself.
When a call to your callee is not answered it is wiser to leave a few minutes gap before attempting again rather than causing a spurt of calls like a shower of arrows from the quiver in one shot. It may that the callee is not in a situation to answer out the call or the battery might not be able to withstand voice calls. If repeat calls are not being answered it would be wiser to leave a quick, nice and brief text or voice message informing the purpose of the call along with adding a callback number and priority of the call attempt.
Ensure that your ring-back and ringtones are polite. A horrifying b-grade romantic music can be adding color to your private living room whereas the same broadcasted on the phone effectively pollutes the entire environment.
Mind your volume of the ring and the voice. A very slow volume might ambiguate the call quality and a very high volume again contributes to polluting the environment.

The Role Models

We do meet a lot of people on an every day basis. A few of them are immemorable that we should ensure to emulate them. And a few of them are models that we should avoid habits of them. I would like to present a brief outline of two positive figures here for everyone's emulation:

Soorej Andrews Paul: He was the chief system administrator in one of my previous organizations where I was working between 2001 and 2004. The total focus to work, immune to the different unneeded back comments, systematic handling of network outages are for sure of his salient features. On a personal front when some one needs a caring word or a little help that he could afford he was never found to negate the said request. At the same time he ensured he maintained a distance instead of infringing into the victim's personal intimacy and private affairs. For a while he was also victimized by the politics-laden mismanaged middle manager group (a similar plight that I have shared it here) but thanks to CEO's intervention the malicious hands were thwarted in time.

Jerry L Hampton: He is the most helpful project manager. Whatever be the incoming tasks he always ensures the same are enqueued into his little Timesheet/Tasklist spreadsheet and then takes the same from there. That way he ensures that he is not victimized by the so-called slogging syndrome. His sense of humor is a greatest thing of admiration. 'I see something screwy' is one of the commonest phrases that he uses most. For the team he also helps in administering the network and servers. I am sure the servers would have a good time with him too. When you confront ill-will laden skunks a good one word with him would help you forget about those crazy buggers and recharge you to comfortably ignore them and focus on your work. I strongly see that he should be a strong spiritual person else otherwise a quick one liner with him can not be able to impart a good resistance wave to us. His Droid is another source of inspiration. When in an important meeting just a coule of rings and it automatically cuts off. His magnanimity in handling with truant politicians and patience to handle bad attitude guys is really awesome. Some how we should pocket-pick these good habits and emulate too. On the humor sense the only question I would like to ask him is 'You are Jerry. Who/Where is Tom?'

Google's Plus Venture into Social Networking

After a long hiatus following a catastropic failure of Orkut, Buzz and Wave, the next big leap of Google into Social Networking is Google Plus. At the outset it looks appealing and promising competitor to Facebook but is it really going to stay for a long time?

A few observations on Google Plus are:

Pluses:
1. The biggest head-ache of Orkut and Facebook Spam-source 'Who visited your profile?' is not there at least till now. Good.
2. Glad that Google Plus is a single sign-on participant so that I can switch between multiple Google Accounts with ease.
3. Unlike the debutant voice chat of Facebook-Skype venture which works only on Windows, the hangout feature seems to be less resource-intensive and cross-platform too.
Cons:
1. Strong security lapse. Any one seems to be able to barge into your network. Facebook initiates a friend request and you need to confirm them before letting them in. This seems to be allowing the users directly. I admit that this is not a major problem since currently whatever is going is just a limited use field trial but I would have appreciated Google Plus team if they could have brought in security right at the kernel level.
2. Lack of profile visibility controls like in Facebook.

These are a first few observations on Google Plus. Let me tour around more and keep updating this list.

Aadi to start next sunday!

The holy month of Aadi dedicated to Sri Andal and various Amman temples is set to start next Sunday. It also marks the start of Dakshinayanam which would run till Thai Pongal (Uthrayanam) sometime in January.

For the past one week, the hereditary Thiruvananthapuram Sri Ananthapadmanabha Swamy temple is being ransacked by a team of administration officials under the pretext of unearthing concealed secret treasures and as a part of 'stock-taking process'.

What may be the reason behind this 'diplomatic pilferage' of our Hindu temples by the so-called secularists?
After all they have been looting the temples from time immemorial and using it to satisfy their own bestial instincts claiming to spend on secularist purposes.

Perhaps just like our Indian Banks organize the so-called deposit mobilisation drives swiss banks should have announced something and hence is a mad rush amongst the politicians to fill up their private coffers. Whoa! Just got a Google Plus Invite ...

Glad to receive a Google Plus invite -- a new response to Facebook from Google. After a long sojourn journey of Google with its botched up Orkut project, I think, in its Facebook perspective, the plus seems to be promising.

Historically, ASP.NET was called as ASP+ and then rechristened as ASP.NET. Wish Google, good luck in its plus project.

For the Invite Requests (Update on 20:30 hours Eastern):

Google Plus does not seem to be limiting the number of invites and hence I was able to send out a very few in the morning to a few beneficiaries from my addres book.
Looked like some technical errors or server conditions blocking it now. Just confirmed that G+ seems to be embargoing the send of invites. Anyways once the embargo is lifted let me see if I can fulfill your aspirations.

If you are using Firefox 4.0.1 you ought to check out and have Fireshot which is an immensely helpful browser add-on to capture screenshots, add annotations and shapes before exporting the final image to your local disk. You might have observed a recent screenshot in my post on LdVoyage launch. Perhaps this should be another compelling reason for me to adopt Firefox again in my web developer's toolbox.

Fox Again!

After a sojourn with Chrome, I am now using Firefox again in its 4.0.1 version. Why is this change again? The reasons for this migration are:

For some reason my Chrome on Ubuntu is not able to recognize Unicode fonts properly. Also I see a steep memory usage when it comes to Shockwave Movies.
As you know, Chrome allocates separates process memory for each tabs which might be heavy on challenged computers.
Firefox 4 brings Chrome-like interfaces with good improvements in memory footprint as well.
Seeing a fox in the morning is said to bring good luck. :)

The only drawbacks I see in Firefox currently are:

When I install an add-on it is expecting me to restart the web browser whilst Chrome does it only the fly.
PDF documents open inline natively in Chrome whereas Firefox still depend on the bloated reader plugin from Adobe.

India is for sure an evolving business hub of Information Technology. However with this rapid growth we also get a few shrubs and weeds wherein unscrupulous identities take advantage of the innocent towards satisfying their bestial instincts.

I have a lot of evidences of such callous organizations which have only embraced and/or dug their own grave in a very short run. I was just thinking that we should have a movement to educate bona fide ambitious aspirants into IT/ITES fields from being wary of such dragnets. The other issue with such unscrupulous organizations is that they also resort to all sorts of immoral trafficking (particularly of the female workforce) besides the amount of software piracy that they resort to. All they want is to build their private 'ex-chequers' at the cost of society.

Whilst browsing through Facebook I came across an innovative community called 'Microsoft/Google Purchasers' which seems to be precisely the same objective as this post.

"Stop Involving In Piracy". If you have a true talent then come in and use it for the development and mutual prosperity of you and the society.

I am really amused and surprised on the weak anti-spam implementation of Blogger. If you had been used to emailing with Google or Google Apps you would for sure be with me to appreciate a strong wave of Spam filters which sometimes even engulfs even bona fide messages in a false-positive gesture.

The newly launched feature of Google Blogger is spam comments. I see a good number of spam comments are letting in as 'good' inspite of me reporting them repeatedly as spammer. I wouldn't call those viagra and medicinal herbs as spam but those from the online flower shops of India and travel outlets in India posting weird messages to unrelated posts are spam as well. Akismet does capture them perfect so why not Google?

Portable Todolist -- Powered by Libre Calc

A move which was imminent. The Todolist which was powering has been now moved to an indigenous task list system powered by Libre Calc.

Why was this change?

Portablity. Each and every system can not expect to have the standard stupid MsXML parsers. However the primary todolist would still be the same whilst the transactional system would be powered by Libre Office.
Libre Office using XLSX (Excel 2007) ensures a true portability.
A need to explore VBA and Excel programming. I love Excel.

I had a re-install of my desktop Ubuntu Linux sometime a week back. I had been re-installing the missing software and other pieces one-by-one. Today when I re-instated the configuration of OpenDNS, Google Talk stopped working. It was driving me crazy as I had re-installed Empathy the latest version too. I found out that Google Talk through Google Email was also suffering an outage, which gave me a hint that the problem might not be in the local computer but the network.
Once I checked the logs I found out that my OpenDNS configuration was blocking access to Google Talk server. See the web browser message below for http://talk.google.com/

Belly Dance Over The Weekends?

Sometimes and typically the stupid startup (software) companies in India have the so-called cabbage idiot middle managers expecting people to visit workplace even on weekends whilst they try to enjoy the luxury of their arse in the comfortable privacy at their house or some resort.

A friend of mine and I were debating on this topic and my friend was suggesting that the chairs might have some freezing ingredients and they to trying to avoid the freeze by having people to visit workplace regularly. I was actually suggesting whether the managers want to involve in sort of belly dance and for some reason the following video came to my mind. (This has nothing to do with the objectives of Bharati film other than the gestures but dil to pagal hai na?)

Welcoming a bright lamp into my home ...

It is time to welcome another new entrant into my home. This time it is a bright new lamp empowered by Symantec forums.

A friend had an AmazonPrime two day delivery option and hence the gift is being rushed to me and it should hopefully be reaching me on the Friday day. A few more snaps of the same are below:

Update on May 13 2011: The order got delivered on May 12 2011 to my Leasing Office and I collected the same on May 11 2011 (Friday).

The lamp has a blissful narration whilst it was welcomed. Whilst I shared about this with my colleagues there one Indian christian converted rogue who always used to chide others in his sinister objectives. We mostly avoid him and/or rather quarantine him.

Interestingly the most blissful occasion was that we had an American colleague who loved to see and feel it so much. He in fact got up and received from our hands in most respectable fashion. He is almost now a sexagenarian (aged between 65 to 70) with more than thirty years of experience in IT field besides nurturing a greatest love for his pet animals, grand sons and daughters.

If at all there is one guy who nobody hates anywhere I would point at this person -- the ever smiling sexagenarian kid who always is dynamic without even yawning at workplace, does not mind about unworthy comments or involve in useless gibberish talks. And during Christmas celebrations he brings gifts to everyone. The only thing which we can not bear our laughter is the most interesting way he handles his 'Droid' for select conversations. He is simply the most invincible and most loved person by all, I can say precisely.

A Sweet Dog Captured On Mobile Camera

Yesterday we saw this cutie near a restaurant. As we were preparing to catch him in our mobiles he became alert and this photo became more lively as if he was giving a nice shot. The 'click' sound of the camera made him more curious as we learnt in a few seconds. As we crossed the stretched and reached the streets, he also came peeking out through the other window and staring. If you closely observe there is one more dog in the car.

I was watching a Sun TV serial called 'Thendral' yesterday. The serial was nice and unlike the stupid weird fights and romantic things it takes on a family issues and how people abide by it. The girl who pictures the title role is named as 'Lavanya'. And whilst her facial expression seems to be good, the eye-expression seems to be vehemently violent and deeply venomous.
Can the people use a different name other than 'Lavanya' for that type of roles? When I say 'use' I mean both in reality and in cinematography. There are zillions of other names that can be found in this world. And this 'gentle' touch, tender and loveable name has a lot of inner lovely meanings. Spare it please!
'Lavanya' needs a protection from such crazy things. 'Lavanya' is high-above the normal standards. Very interestingly around an year back my Samsung E1410 was traumatized by water. About few months back my Samsung Alias was swept by water and I had to replace with Samsung Gusto. And during my New York trip this one suffered a little water damage. Verizon Wireless offered to replace the mobile on a priority basis. In the Dwapar yuga the years and span are more and hence it was Asta Vasu was 'Bheeshma'. And now being Kaliyuga we can consider the fourth one (Samsung) being the Bheeshma.

A Seattle Slut calls me at Odd Hours

Seattle has a lot of positives and negatives. The best positives are a pleasant climate, home of software jambavan (Microsoft), sweet tourist places. On the other hand I have also heard from people that because of always damp climate it also witnesses a high amount of suicide rates because of mounting depressions.

Since yesterday some slut from Seattle had been troubling me with missed calls incessantly. When I tried to reach the number back she is callously responding as "Are you from India? I am sorry that by mistake I dialled the number. I don't know you. What bothers you and I frequently dial numbers like that and people don't care about it".

The number details as captured in my CLI records are below:

The way she replied makes me feel and nurture the following doubts:

She should be a slut or call-girl attempting to solicit customers for her trade.
She should be a psychic-ill patient suffering from sort of perceived hysteria and hence calling random numbers at odd hours.

I have these doubts because the way she calls me on my different numbers otherwise is next to impossible given the way the digits are in my number. They are not in any way contigous or continuos or consecutive. In my part I have reported this incident and my speculations to my telephone operators and law enforcement authorities of Washington state lest this creature creates more trouble for anyone.

I am trying to call back and other guy responds asking me my number asserting that no one could have called from his number. He was trying to confirm if some one reached from his home and assured to call me after five minutes. Let me see if calls back and what he says.

Update on 00:42 hours (few hours after his assurance): No call back has come. Anyways my responsibility is complete I have informed the pertinent parties involved to take attention to the (possible security) lapse. I would like to thank this prankster for providing me an opportunity to serve the community by bringing their ill-faceted attitude to the limelight.

Nothing but Ranga and only Ranga from 14th April to 18th April ...

The Tamil New Year 2011-12 (Kara) year had been a blissful start with a divine pilgrimage to Western Trichinopoly (the state of New York) culminating in the sanctum sanctorum of Sri Ranganatha at Western Srirangam (Pomona NY) on the banks of Western Cauvery (Hudson River). I wouldn't need to go detail about the same in this blog regarding the pilgrimage because that would come under the scope of "LD Voyage".

Right from Viswaroopa darshan/Suprabhatam (waking up the Lord) till the most beautiful Sayanothsavam around 8 PM when Ranga is put to sleep had been a blissfully beautiful divine experience. The temple comes under august auspices of Sri Ahobila Mutt. The other significant deities in the temple are:

New Additions to my personal jukebox

This is my newest addition to my personal music collection. Melodius sanskrit verses bringing Tirumala right to your desktop with my living room just vibrating with the incessantly invigorating chant of Govinda. It looks there is a rendition of the same from Dr. S. P. Balasubramaniam too.
I would suggest you check the same from your local music store and/or Amazon to sweep in positive spiritual vibes to us and our ambience. Frankly speaking I did nurture a kind of hatred and/or abeyance of devotion to Tirumala and Ranganathan which might be deduced from a few turbulent tremors a couple of years back. My sincere thanks to my guru (Smt. Uma Mohan), Sri Ranganatha Temple (Pomona NY) and LBM to clear the various hurdles and bring back the devotion to the paramatma which is the true bliss compared to the mundane distractions and diversions.

Better and powerful blogging platform @Wordpress. Whilst blogdrive is no doubt a very good blogging website Wordpress has still powerful features like spam protection and templating.
You may have observed that even Windows Live Spaces blog is being now powered by Wordpress.

Whilst this move is happening you may find the older posts appropriately cataloged into the newer blog. Spam comments would be dropped whilst importing. If you suspect a spam comment creeping in inadvertently then drop me a note. And similarly if you find a genuine comment that you have seen in the erstwhile blog but that got dropped in LDVoyage, I sincerely apologise for the same. Please let me know of the same and I would import it.

Wasim Khan -- What is in the name for Kollywood?

Being a weekend I was just went to a nearby theater which is basically a non-airconditioned old-styled talkie one to watch a Vijaykanth film 'Vallarasu'. Interestingly in the evening the local cable was telecasting 'Roja'. Both the films have national sentiments of campagning against terrorists. Interestingly the prime villain terrorist in both the names is 'Wasim Khan'. I am not sure if there is any hidden meaning in 'Wasim Khan' and why distinct set of Kollywood directors zero in on this name for their villain.

And similarly there is another trend in Indian movies. The contemporary civil villains are normally named behind explosives and/or variants of them. A couple of examples in this perspective are:

'Power' in 'Gandhipuram'
'RDX' in 'Aadhi'.

Can these nomenclature be brought under censorship radar?

At least these days of politics you don't find a good one. I would say even the callous statement "ராமன் ஆண்டால் என்ன ராவணன் ஆண்டால் என்ன" should now change as "ராவணன் ஆண்டால் என்ன துரியோதனன் ஆண்டால் என்ன". That is the sad plight of the current administration. Even then it is better that you exercise your franchise so that at least a relatively lesser wicked is chosen and if you overlook your rights of franchise a worst demon might sit atop your arse/head.

Who is Anna Hazare?
An ex-army man. Fought 1965 Indo-Pak War
What's so special about him? He built a village Ralegaon Siddhi in Ahamad Nagar district, Maharashtra So what?This village is a self-sustained model village. Energy is produced in the village itself from solar power, biofuel and wind mills. In 1975, it used to be a poverty clad village. Now it is one of the richest village in India. It has become a model for self-sustained, eco-friendly & harmonic village.
This guy, Anna Hazare was awarded Padma Bhushan and is a known figure for his social activities.
Really, what is he fighting for? He is supporting a cause, the amendment of a law to curb corruption in India.
How that can be possible? He is advocating for a Bil, The Lok Pal Bill (The Citizen Ombudsman Bill), that will form an autonomous authority who will make politicians (ministers), beurocrats (IAS/IPS) accountable for their deeds.
It's an entirely new thing right..? In 1972, the bill was proposed by then Law minister Mr. Shanti Bhushan. Since then it has been neglected by the politicians and some are trying to change the bill to suit thier theft (corruption).
Oh.. He is going on a hunger strike for that whole thing of passing a Bill ! How can that be possible in such a short span of time? The first thing he is asking for is: the government should come forward and announce that the bill is going to be passed. Next, they make a joint committee to DRAFT the LOK PAL BILL. 50% goverment participation and 50% public participation. Because you cant trust the government entirely for making such a bill which does not suit them.
Fine, What will happen when this bill is passed? A LokPal will be appointed at the centre. He will have an autonomous charge, say like the Election Commission of India. In each and every state, Lokayukta will be appointed. The job is to bring all alleged party to trial in case of corruptions within 1 year. Within 2 years, the guilty will be punished. Not like, Bofors scam or Bhopal Gas Tragedy case, that has been going for last 25 years without any result.
Is he alone? Who else is there in the fight with Anna Hazare?

I am glad to share the snaps of Rudrabhishekam conducted on my new Shivalingam and my new nandhi today (27th March 2011). Though I could not make all the ingredients for the abhishekam, I feel blissful to have at least the following to be part of the abhishekam:

Oil
Milk
Curd/Yoghurt
Honey
Ghee

Even after the spring started today early morning that had been a light snow all around, something very rare. Perhaps was it a blissful blessing of Maansaarovar@Virginia for our Rudrabhishekam!!!!
