Carcinogenic Entertainers

Carcinogenic Entertainers

Movies or cinemas have been initially brought in a with a noble intention of entertaining people, give messages to thier lifestyle to lead and tread a noble life. But the current set of movies seems to be really otherwise. They give a message that people should intrepret as which should not be followed at all, often flavored, peppered and topped-up with violence, lust, hypocrisy and all other negative things. As I described in my previous post, in a way, it was really irrititating to watch the channels that were beyond normal noble Indian culture. And it just fondly recalled the experience during Sabarimala trip.

During the trip there were a few easy-go style passengers who wanted films to be screened. Two nauseating films like Vettai adu Vilayadu and Thalaimagan were screened but for only a few tracks. We had some interesting divine retaliation too for a few crossing the vrathams. With Thalaimagan screened while crossing Palani, we encountered the problems of missing the route and we have to roam for half-an-hour before reaching the Kerala border. And the screening of Vettaiyadu Vilayadu provoked a comment from one devotee that it might be against the vratha And interestingly we had strenous time in trekking the Chinna Pathai.

Again there is one societal menace of current day films, a few of which we have described here. Hope at least people would start avoiding such films for the welfare of society.

Tamil Evergreen Comedies

Tamil Evergreen Comedies

Whatever be the time you are in, Whatever situation you are in. Wherever you are in the world. The Goundamani and Senthil comedy tracks in Tamil Film are really enchanting and refreshing. It is almost like taking a sip of one gallon of glucose enrichment. Bored with local English Texas channels that were being screen in my room, just flicked YouTube and I found a good collection of comedy movies.

Just wanted to share them over here:

Crazy date of Inbox.com and Blogger

Crazy date of Inbox.com and Blogger

Looks like Inbox.com and/or Blogger have gone a bit crazy. This simple innocent post, appreciating Walgreens is debatedly delayed by these entities till now.

Perhaps, I guess the post might be bit large (?) and hence the SMTP session is taking a while.

Weird! And these are The Planet's Funniest Syndrome. What do you say?

Excellent Enviable CustomerSatisfaction Measures at Walgreens

Excellent Enviable CustomerSatisfaction Measures at Walgreens

My current stay at Dallas and my neighbor is Walgreens. There are a lot of things I admire in Walgreens pharmacy. It brings the memories of Indian stores like Subiksha which has a humble start and brings goods at subsidised prices. The other good features I like with Walgreens are as follows:

  1. Round the clock services
  2. Neatly arranged and Ambient atmosphere for shopping with pleasure and at leisure.
  3. Customer Satisfaction Measures
    • They have a board that if no reciept for the purchase is issued, then USD 5 would be given to the customer on giving a complaint.
    • Walgreen Satisfaction Survey and USD 10000 Sweepstakes
    • Walgreen Satisfaction Survey over US TollFree 1-888-424-1018.

I am sure Walgreen should be a definitive guide for Indian entrepreneurs in ensuring the satisfaction of customers and thus minimizing the number of escalations and issues as we confront over here.

Blog after long gap

Blog after long gap

I admit that there has been about a fifteen day gap -- this is really a long gap on various interesting informative topics that we have been discussing. Basically, my current business trip and getting accomodated to the new atmosphere did take a while, making the blog to take the back seat in the melee. Nevertheless, the busy schedules too have, in turn, lent helping hands for more creative innovative ideas for us to discuss.

So stay tuned. We have a lot more to discuss on various topics. The world is wide and so is our imagination. Sky is the limit.

Caring for the Dumb Friends

Caring for the Dumb Friends

Time and again we have been discussing about the necessity of kindness towards dumb animals. They are greatest treasures for this world, choicest cute and lovely creations of Lord Almighty. They are the most best friends of mankind and help us in so many ways. We are, in more ways obliged to protect them and shower them love and sympathy in more ways than one. But the actual sad reality is that we only shower enormous cruelty on them in all ways that are possible. A few of our discussions on Animal Cruelty are here, for your recall:

  1. Are we trading humanitarian attitude for modern life?
  2. Camels saved ny Chennai High Court

If you have closely watched the film of Annamalai, starring Superstar Rajinikanth, there are great lyrics in the song Vandhenda Palkaran which clearly brings out the greatness of animals to mankind. He acts as a milkvendor in the film.

We would here, make a humble compilation of various animal welfare agencies and we would swear to either volunteer with them or financially, physically, mentally or verbally support them to strenghten animal welfare and thus serve the Lord. I have tried to collect information for India and United States. I would humbly request the readers to share other contact details from other places and from India/US also as comments.

Elephant Bell First and Elephant Comes Behind -- Part II

Elephant Bell First and Elephant Comes Behind -- Part II

Have you read the Part-I of this post. This part discusses about the neighboring place of Madipakkam which stands as silent testimony of this Tamil proverb. There is a place called Velacherry and there is a very important police checkpost since it branches the route to Tambaram, which is the gateway of Chennai. The problem is that 'Velachery Checkpost' also serves as entrypoint for Guindy and Adambakkam (NGO Colony). Inspite of the significant junction, the accessways and road is very narrow; narrower than the broadest imagination of human brain could afford.

With this situation in place, any vehicle plying from within Velacherry outside crossing Checkpost or those plying towards Velacherry at the vicinity of Checkpost have to tradeoff their good speed and take a snail-pace ride for about three kilometer stretch.  So next time, when your vehicle automatically trades off the good speeds and experiences unprecedented slowdowns and turbulences, you can think and make good a guess that Velacherry Checkpost is nearby. Velacherry Checkpost is nearby but traffic jam is already in place and hence the proverb befits the context.

HDFC Bank -- New Account Promotional Offers

HDFC Bank -- New Account Promotional Offers

Right from near Rajakilpakkam till about Guindy, I could find a lot of hoardings and cloth banners that HDFC Bank has displayed calling for new account openings in Velacherry and Selayiur branch. All new accounts, they claim, are eligible for a free travel bag. Just thought I would share these details with others so that interested people can benefitted by opening an account.

But ensure that you are are bit careful since you are dealing with a private bank and not nationalized bank. Also, read our discussion on "Private Banks in India — Banking for the Booty". You can get the addresses and phone numbers of the branches here.

Tax Assistance -- Good Chartered Accountants in Chennai

Tax Assistance -- Good Chartered Accountants in Chennai

It is almost now the taxing time for salaried class in India and particularly in Chennai. February and March, we would experience a good percentage of our monthly pay getting deducted as Tax unless we have carefully considered investment options for the financial year. Just last week, I completed the procedures for gathering all investment proofs, which we discussed here. My friend was actually asking me the other day for some good tax calculation help and just thought would give some pointers and rather share across the word in the weblog to faciltiate others through to get help from these chartered accountants and latter would get some business too.

Having been in Cybernet for a while, I came across this Chartered Accountants called Velu Muthu Associates, who are really very versatile and well-versed top to bottom and nook-and-corner of all taxation laws prevailing in India. The charges for tax assessment and filing of returns either each service and/or as a package is very nominal. I am sure you can also immensely benefit from their services in having best investment decisions for your career.

Please feel free to spread the word to your friends so that it would be of immense benefit to them and as well to the chartered accountants.

Note: I have just shared the information on a good information sharing gesture and not linked to the chartered accountants other than casually availing the service. Let us practice this. If you are satisfied with thier service, tell your friends so that they can benefit. If you find a flaw, let them know at info (at) vma.in so that they can implement corrective actions in thier processes.

21L Retaliations on Footboard Travels

21L Retaliations on Footboard Travels

Sometime back we were discussing about an interesting footboard traveller in 51L. Yesterday, while travelling to work by 21L, it was quite a similar situation. With the bus being relatively free, about three persons were very much persistent in sticking themselves to the footboard as if they were strongly glued to them.

The conductor really got intimidated and started shouting and then these guys came up. On close watch of the conductors' shoutings the following were deduced and observed:

  1. Footboard Travellers are menace in terms of security aspects. Pocket-pickers mostly haunt pickboards. If you keep clinging to footboard, sooner or later, you may need to bid adieu to your wallet. We have some tips from escaping pocket-pickers here.
  2. Footboard Travellers are societal menace. If they trip and fall down, they cause the following hardships.
    1. Even if the injury is small or fatal, the bus has to be taken to the police station and case filed. This way the otherwise innocent bus crew and thier family experience unprecedent financial turbulence.
    2. The chaos on the roads persist at least for two hours to six hours, thanks to the significant road mismanagements in Chennai, leading to normal life disruption.
  3. I remember, once a conductor was saying to his colleague that he would not issue tickets to footboard travellers unless they come up, since with the ticket if they fall and meet thier end, it means problem to them since that person has travelled in the bus. This, I appreciate, should be followed by all buses and can be considered to made as statute.
  4. I have seen cops charging lathi on footboard travellers sometime back in main places like Camp Road, Meenakshi College (Kodambakkam) but for the past three months I could not see any of them in action.

Redefining "Awesome" by Redhy Issac

Redefining "Awesome" by Redhy Issac

While casually surfing online, I came across Redhy's new weblog ("Deverastic"). He normally uses this word to indicate awesome, excellent and similar expressions. As he himself notes in his weblog that most of the dictionaries do not have a meaning of the same but just a colloqial term. Nevertheless, this one serves as new form for expressing "Awesome" to someone's action.

It just has a more vibrant power in saying "Awesome". Be it due to novelty or really its undercurrent but the bottomline is simple -- "An elegant powerful way of appreciating an awesome act".

Check out "Deverastic? Whats that?"

Annadhana Prabhuve Saranam Ayyappa

Annadhana Prabhuve Saranam Ayyappa

Yesterday I started a bit early from home to work since I had some important deliverables to complete. And some other financial confusion because of Citibank was ravaging into my sleep and hence I was feeling too very sleepy. Even within the journey from Camp Road to Adayar, I almost slept in the bus catching as many winks of sleeps as possible. Greedy, Avaricious of sleep though.

All upto 10 or 10:30, there was pinch of hunger and the moment clock struck half past twelve, I jumped for lunch. I was thinking the lunch by Saravana Bhavan would be another some junk. But thanks to Ayyappa, the lunch was fortunately good with some good tamarind rice and More Kuzhambu.

There are more such instances of we being sumptuously fed even during our Sabarimala pilgrimage. I would keep you posted as time progresses. Sincere thanks to Ayyappa for feeding us time and again. Annadhana Prabhuve Saranam Ayyappa!

Kannanin Aramudhu -- Bhagavat Gita Programme in Podhigai

Kannanin Aramudhu -- Bhagavat Gita Programme in Podhigai

Today morning while casually flicking channels on my remote control, I came across a nice programme by Velukkudi Krishnan in Podhigai (DD Tamil Channel). It is Bhagavat Gita program entitled :"Kannanin Aramudhu". It seems to be a multipart programme spanning for several days and I would like to recommend this to everyone interested to watch the divine programme every day in the morning. Also, it is just 15 minutes programme.

"Kelvikku Enna Bhadhi" Programme in Podhigai on Sunday

"Kelvikku Enna Bhadhi" Programme in Podhigai on Sunday

As we discuss time and again, I think, Sundays can be spent very valuably instead of just wasting time. This Sunday, while flipping channels on my remote, I came across a quiz programme in Doordarshan Tamil Channel called "Podhigai". It was entitled "Kelvikku Enna Bhadhil". It is actually a live quiz programme where the users can send responses by three media:

  1. SMS to a number. The very interesting feature is that unlike other operators this is not a short code SMS but a normal 10-digit code so the normal 1 Re. or SMS offers apply. It is a nation-friendly and people-friendly BSNL number.
  2. Dial-in number for landline users.
  3. Email/Web responses for Net-Savvy people.

The questions too were excellent thought-provoking from the following subjects:

  1. Core Mathematics
  2. General Knowledge
  3. History

There were just 0.5% of the questions only from movies and entertainments. I would strongly recommend to everybody to tune their channels to DD Podhigai on Sunday instead of other movies wasting time and electricity power. This way, we also support DD. We have earlier discussed about DD services here.

Lazy Uninnovative Cabbages -- A Strategy To Deal With Them

Lazy Uninnovative Cabbages -- A Strategy To Deal With Them

We call a person cabbage when he is just a loggerhead and here goes an explanation from Wiktionary. In my opinion and deducing from personal experiences in dealing with such cabbage persons, I best strategic suggestion would be keep them off at bay. They simply spoil the innovations in you and are just speed-breakers.

There are a lot of such flavors and symptoms that indicate thier cabbagism:

  1. Persistent refusal of duty and shirking moral responsibilities.
  2. Lack of sensitivity and seriousness in discharging moral obligations in time and in due perfection within tolerable limits.
  3. Lack of Friendly amicable behavior.
  4. Undue and Immoral trafficking and abetting immoral relationships with other sex. Rememer that Views and Reviews strongly condemns this time and again. Santosh and myself have a policy that we would keep such persons severally away from us lest they pollute our minds too. They are highly contagious disease to the society too. With my love to Javascript, I would say "I love people who knows and prefer calculating javascript:alert(screen.availWidth) and javascript:alert(screen.availWidth) rather than width and height of something else".

I would like to extend this Tamil proverb துஷ்டனை கண்டால் தூர விலகு to accomodate the abovesaid people too as here:

1. துஷ்டனை கண்டால் தூர விலகு
2. மூடனை கண்டால் தூர விலகு (or)
3. மூடனை கண்டால் முகத்தில் குத்தி விலக்கு

Indirect Advantage of Powercuts

Indirect Advantage of Powercuts

We have been discussing sometime back about the reckless powercuts and department of vices that is featuring Tamil Nadu Electricity Board. But I feel that there is one subtle succinct and latent advantage of these folks too particularly to people from IT field. We normally, due to work environments, go home quite late and we are used upto late night awakenings at home too. In these cases, such powercuts force us to catch some wink of sleep and relax ourselves.

Perhaps, TNEB is helping us to keep us hale and healthy. I think this is what we call in Tamil as சிறு துரும்பும் பல் குத்த உதவும். Meaning even the small stick that we throw as waste helps in removing the junk things that gets caught within the dentures after taking normally non-veg food.
